So you're looking to pass request headers down to your portlets as request parameters.
Depending on the Portal provider, you will have mixed success with this.
These seem to let you do it:
* Vignette Portal
* Websphere Portal
These don't seem to let you do it
* JBoss Portal
* Pluto
* Liferay
Passing request parameters down to your portlets can seem good at the time, however it severely hampers your ability to make portable portlets.
If you're trying to do this for authentication purposes, it may be worthwhile consulting your Portal provider's documentation to see how they do authentication (and therefore authorisation) properly.
